My Short Bio
Sesan Michael Johnson
is a budding researcher, writer and teacher of History, World Affairs and
African Studies. He is a research fellow of the French Institute for Research
in Africa (IFRA), Ibadan, Nigeria. In 2012 as the best graduating student of
the Department of History, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Combined Honors)
degree in History and International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University
(OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria and he is in the process of completing his MPhil degree
in History from the same university. Earlier in 2000 he had obtained a
Professional Diploma in Statistics from the Department of Statistics, Faculty
of Science; University of Ibadan (UI). He has vast experiences in preparing
students for excellent (A*/A) performance in both Cambridge and JUPEB -
Advanced Level History examinations. He’s an astute writer with published works
in academic journals. . A History textbook for Advanced Level History for Joint
University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) co-authored by him will be
published soon. As a public intellectual, established newspapers such as the
Guardian newspaper of Nigeria have published his articles on national issues. His
works have are recommended as reading texts on African History by international
institutions. He’s been part of academic trainings, sessions, seminars and
workshops organized by Oxford University, Toyin Falola International Annual
Conference (TOFAC), Cambridge University, IFRA, OAU and UI. He has presented academic
papers in both local and international conferences. His research focuses on Historical
Science, African Historiography and Philosophy of History, Public Health/Medical
History, Environmental History, Social Media History and African Studies. In
January 2018, he presented a paper titled: ‘Recasting Historical Epistemology
and Scientific Discourse in Africa’ at
the just concluded Professor Toyin Falola at 65 Conference held at University
of Ibadan, Nigeria between January 29 and 31, 2018.
